AIMS

The Society's aim is to promote, provide and develop services for children and young people who, as a result of social exclusion, disadvantage and discrimination, have become vulnerable to, and risk of delinquency, exploitation and abuse. Such services are monitored and evaluated, and information about them used to contribute to the development of improved legislation, policy and practice affecting children and young peole. It works in partnership with them and their families in ways which seek to empower to knowledge, skills and opportunities in order to realise their potential and become socially included.

Methodology

RPS Rainer operates 25 different community based programmes for children and young peole in England. These are focused at children and young people at risk, particurlarly those leaving institutional care, in the aftercare, helping them to live on their own; young peole who have offended and are on release from youth custodial training; those on remand from and bail; and young people who need specialist help with their education and training to increase their employability. There is an holostic approach to the methodology, which begins by an initial individual assessment of the needs of each young person and a plan to meet these needs. This may include housing provision, education, social skill training, help with health and welfare issues, employment and personal counselling and support.

Population/Target Gruop

Children and Young People aged 4-25 years who are 'at risk' to delinquency, abuse, poor social educational and physologial development due to earlier life experiences.

Special Needs

To develop the induviduality of each young person through a personal set of self worth and value, to have a sense of integrity which builds their condifence and empowers them to become socailly included as contributing members of society.
